New Star Wars Releases

With 2020 drawing to a close, various entertainment companies are hyping up fans for the newest releases for 2021 and onwards, whether that be a new video game from Nintendo or a new film from Marvel. For this article, I’ll be going over some of the announcements from Star Wars that many fans, including myself, are extremely hyped for.

The first one on the list is “Rangers of the New Republic”. Not much is known about this, other than that the story will take place roughly within the timeframe of  “The Mandalorian”, according to Star Wars’s tweet. I don’t have too much to say on this as of now, but fans have made predictions regarding the plot, that this series will focus on Cara Dune ( played by Gina Carano) whom was first introduced in the first season of “ The Mandalorian”.

*Spoiler warning for The Mandalorian* Another series that will take place in the same timeframe as “The Mandalorian”, and one that I’m really hyped for, is “Ahsoka”. The series will star Rosario Dawson, who made her debut appearance as the character in “The Mandalorian” season 2, and yes, I was mega hyped about Ahsoka’s return! Regarding what the plot could be about,  I could only guess that it will focus on the character trying to hunt down Grand Admiral Thrawn, who is another fan favorite among the Star Wars community.

Next one is an upcoming animated series called “The Bad Batch”. For those who have watched the final season of The Clone Wars, you already know who these guys are. For those who haven’t, The Bad Batch are basically a ragtag group of enhanced clones, shown to carry out battles against the droid army in an creative/aggressive manner that makes them stand out from the usual clones. Based on what was shown in the trailer, the plot will definitely take place during Order 66, also known as the Jedi Purge. Regarding my predictions, it’s kinda difficult to say as to what will happen to them, but given what was shown in the trailer, I can only guess that they may end up fighting for the Empire for a bit and something’s going to happen that would cause the Batch to turn on them. Whether I’m right on that or not, I’m quite excited to see how this series pans out!

Last announcement I want to cover, and it’s the one I’m most hyped about, is the series titled “Obi-Wan Kenobi”. The series will take place a decade after the tragic ending of Revenge of the Sith, most likely focusing on a battle harden Obi-Wan dealing with everything that has transpired, which I’m sure it took a toll on him mentally; especially his duel against Anakin. It was also recently announced that Hayden Christensen will return as Anakin/Darth Vader, which is what I’m most excited for!

That more or less covers what I wanted to talk about regarding the new announcements Star Wars and I’m overly hyped with what’s in store in the years to come! May the force be with you all.
